John Shittu is a prominent  football agent who has been making ground-breaking transfers for African professional football players.

He was born and bred in Nigeria. He got married to Vivian Chiologi, a socialite and beauty entrepreneur, on 4th June 2016. His marriage followed the lose of his first wife in 2010.

Shittu is the former agent of  ex-Chelsea player John Obi-Mikel. He is widely renowned for his role in the transfer saga involving Chelsea and Manchester United.

He was involved in a transfer saga

Obi Mikel was impressed at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, attracted elite English clubs Manchester United and Chelsea. When Sir Alex Ferguson was manager, Manchester United invited the young footballer for a trial, where he performed well.

However, the club did not follow up on the player, and agent John Shittu worked hard to  instigate contact between Mikel and Chelsea.

Due to issues with documents, Mikel could not sign a contract as he was still underage and was compelled to a contract with Norwegian club Lyn Oslo.

Things went wrong when Mikel signed a  contract at Lyn Oslo, and Sir Alex, who was  determined to get his signature, flew out to get the player. Unknown to Mikel, Lyn Oslo already had an arrangement with London club Chelsea not to sell him to another club.

The ensuing issues led to a year-long legal custody battle, ending in Chelsea paying over £12 million in compensation.

Shittu was of the view that Nigeria produces talented youngsters who fade as soon as they mature due to their indiscipline, negative attitude, and character.

Despite the recent criticism, players represented by John Shitu include Isaac Promise, Chinedu Obasi, Onyekachi Apam, and Ambrose Efe.
