Can you work while on Chevening?

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office recognizes that having some job experience in the UK may be advantageous for your career and overall experience, even if they want Chevening Scholars to put their studies first.

You must, however, make sure that any job you engage in is approved by your program officer at the Secretariat, is allowed under the terms of your visa, and won’t interfere with your academic endeavours.

The UK government department in charge of immigration, the Home Office, takes seriously any employment that violates your restrictions. When you initially get your Biometric Residence Permit, please examine it to make sure the working circumstances have been accurately documented.
