About Dakkada FC

Nigerian football club Dakkada Football Club was previous known as Akwa Starlets Football Club. They joined the Nigerian Professional Football League on July 22, 2019, after being promoted from the Nigeria National League.

The home of Dakkada FC is in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium is their home field. They gained a promotion in 2019 to compete in the Tier-1 club league of Nigeria, the Nigerian Professional Football League, for the 2019-2020 season.

Except for the nearby Abia state, the Niger Delta state of Akwa Ibom is the only state administration currently sponsoring two clubs in the elite club tournament.

Dakkada FC History

Dakkada FC, originally Akwa Starlets FC was established by the Akwa Ibom State Government, in 2004 as the youth division of Akwa United FC under the direction of Chris Ekong, the then-Commissioner for Youths and Sports. Following the establishment of Dakkada FC, they began competing in the Nigerian National Amateur League 1 and over time, got promotion.

The Nigeria National League’s 2019 Champion was Akwa Starlet in September 2019. The club name was officially changed from Akwa Starlet FC to Dakkada FC on October 31, 2019, by the management of the organization.
